Design Philosophy
There is a common misconception that one must sacrifice to help save the planet. It's as if we humans, "us," must live in opposition to nature, "them." This "us versus them" thinking leads many people to believe that for the planet to survive, we have to work harder and give up many of the things we want in life.
We have a different concept. We are an integral part of nature. It's easy to forget this as we live in houses that are heated or cooled, drive around in cars, and even fly to distant destinations. But the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat all come from nature. They come from the air around us, the water that falls as rain into lakes, streams, and through the ground into aquifers. Our food ultimately comes from the soil in which it is grown. Even our own bodies are inevitably recycled in the end, after we die.
So, perhaps we can live in harmony with nature, yet still enjoy a good life. In fact, we really have no other option. If we destroy nature around us, we ultimately destroy ourselves.
Here at natural Devices, we know that the products we create are going to have an impact on nature around us. Metal must be mined out of the ground, other materials are drawn from nature and refined, shaped, and configured to make our products. So there is always some 'environmental impact' in anything that we do. The goal is to replace what we do with big environmental impacts with practices that have smaller ones. In effect to let go of fighting nature so much, and settle more into embracing it instead. We really have nothing to lose, in the long run, and a much better life to live, as we go forward.
